PikaPika
By a stroke of luck, I just stumbled upon PIKAPIKA. A while ago, I ran across a really cool animation of a horse or something drawn with lights, marching across the screen in stop motion?
Here’s the source. There’s some really fun animations they’ve done, although I’m still perplexed at how they could draw each frame at the right size, frame by frame. It’s obviously a great deal of work, but it’s giant fun.

Stacy Reed- she dreams in digital
![]()
I can’t remember how I found her, but I’m glad I did. Meet a fellow fractal fanatic, Stacy Reed. She’s got a website full of very cool fractals, you can find some great fractal artwork on her site, including some great looking composite work with fractals. She’s also got links to lots of cool stuff at the main entrance of her web site. Pop in sometime and look around when you’ve got a chance.

What the font!
Ok, this is just too cool. How many times have you needed to find out the name of a font on something created by someone else, when you’re stuck with the job of trying to match it?
Here’s the answer- a website where you submit a scan of an image with the font you’re trying to match, and this can help you find out what font it is! Sweet!

Hikaru Dorodango
I am SO up for this!
I just stumbled across something very cool- Hikaru Dorodango- highly polished balls of mud.
Seriously, go look.
http://www.dorodango.com
Looking at how this is made, I’m thinking it might be a relaxing thing to do, making an object of beauty out of common, everyday mud.
Now, here’s the thing that’s really cool- I punched this into Ebay- even worldwide, there’s not a SINGLE LISTING. I say we corner the market on fine art mud balls!
I’m sitting here thinking of how I could get patterns into the thing using different colored dirt.
Anyone else up for a fun, creative, and bizarre art project challenge?

Touch driven computer screen demo
This is another reason it sucks I wasn’t born later. This is the sort of thing I’ve dreamed of, being able to manipulate a computer with something that makes sense, a way to directly manipulate things like a 3D mesh, in real time. I’ve dreamed of a 3D mouse that was sort of a blob with knobs poking out to represent X, Y, and Z axis, both positive and negative. To stretch the mesh, you’d grab the knob at the top and pull it upward, which would cause the mesh to deform. Make it wider by pulling on both the left and right horizontal knobs. This is nothing short of magic, it really is, it’s a dream come true.
Jeff Han is a research scientist for New York University’s Media Research Lab. Here, he demonstrates—for the first time publicly—his intuitive, “interface-free,” touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure. (Recorded February 2006 in Monterey, CA. Duration: 09:32)

A friend of mine emailed me a link to someone’s website to check out the trippy animations. The funny thing- they’ve got mine at the end of the page at the very bottom.
Check them out, these are cool.

The photography of William Gedney
Pick any gallery and go through them, almost every photo is powerful. The India gallery is quite stark and desolate, the Cross Country gallery has a lot of great shots of people going on with their day to day life. There’s also some amazing photos in the 1964 Kentucky album, it’s all great stuff.
This is quite an amazing body of work, his images have a great deal of mood and emotion in them.
